Received a degree in law from Pompeu Fabra University where he was a lecturer in Law of Community Institutions. He completed a Masters in Leadership for Political and Social Management at UAB and the program of Macroeconomic Challenges of Global Imbalances at LSE - London School of Economics and Political Science.


He is a member of the European Parliament. He became the candidate for the Socialist Party of Catalonia after winning the primaries organized by the party with 68,56% of the votes (5546 of 8089) and in the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 he became an MEP – becoming the youngest ever elected in these elections for Spain.
He is the Chairman of The Commission for Employment and Social Affairs of The European Parliament where he focuses his work on fighting inequality, guaranteeing the right to housing, combating unemployment and job insecurity. He is also a member of The Commission for Foreign Affairs, with his work centered on The Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Latin America. From the Commission of Foreign Affairs he has heavily criticized the management of the Refugee crisis and in 2015 travelled to the transit camps in the Balkans to denounce the situation on site.
He is the Chairman of the Working Group for the Southern Neighbourhood, from where the European Parliament follows the news of the region of North Africa and the Middle East. He participated in the delegations to Colombia for following-up the peace process and the delegation to Egypt, both in 2016. He has also been an electoral observer in the EU mission in the Presidential elections of Tanzania in 2015.


Participates regularly in radio talk-shows and debates. Regularly has opinion articles published in various national and international media outlets such as, El PaísThe Huffington PostEl Periódico or the Social Europe Journal. All articles can be read on this website.


He has a passion for social sciences and is a news-addict. But he also enjoys reading (Philip Roth, Graham Greene, Enrique Vila-Matas and Emmanuel Carrère), cinema (Stanley Kubrik, Roman Polanski, Martin Scorsese and David Cronenberg) and music (José González, Sufjan Stevens, Cat Power or The XX). He even managed to organize an independent music production company in his university years.


Since July 2014 he is the Secretary of International and European Policies for PSC. He was the first secretary for The Young Socialists of Catalonia from 2009 to 2015 and was also District Councilor and spokesperson from 2011 to 2014 in Les Corts, the Barcelona district where he grew up
