I was born in Madrid, but grew up in Barcelona, my city. I divide my time between Barcelona and Brussels, where I have served as a Member of the European Parliament, affiliated with the Group of Socialists and Democrats, and the PSC-PSOE, since 2014, and co-chair of the Euro-Lat Assembly since 2019.
I graduated with a degree in Law from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra, and earned a Master’s in “Leadership for Political and Social Management” from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. I have been a Visiting Professor of History and Current EU Debates at the Blanquerna Universitat Ramon Llull since 2017. Previously, I was District Councillor and Spokesperson of the Socialist Group in Les Corts – City of Barcelona, 2011-14.
In the European Parliament I am a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence; and an alternate member of the Committee on Foreign Policy. I focus my work on ensuring a just ecological transition through the legislation of the European Green Deal, the monitoring of the EU’s foreign actions, and the development of its strategic autonomy.
I am a member of the Presidency of the European Socialist Party (ESP), representing the PSOE since 2018, where I chair the Environment, Climate Change and Energy Working Group. I am an ex officio member of the Executive Committee of the PSC – Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya – and I have been its Secretary for the Promotion of Europe, and its Secretary of European and International Policy.
